Towards energy sustainability
To continue providing a reliable energy supply, we take account of the finite nature of fossil fuels. We must also seek to mitigate the climate impact of energy consumption. We therefore pursue energy sustainability in three simultaneous steps:
1. Limit energy demand through energy saving;
2. Use renewable sources to meet the remaining energy demand;
3. Use fossil fuels as efficiently and cleanly as possible.
These steps are in line with Trias Energetica, a model developed by TU Delft.
